Piatto Black Belt by Venini

The Piatto Black Belt is a sophisticated glass centerpiece created by Peter Marino for Venini, part of the distinctive Black Belt collection introduced in 2017. Inspired by Marino’s architectural philosophy, the design explores the relationship between light, material, and structure, translating these concepts into an elegant Murano glass object.

Handcrafted by master artisans in Murano, the plate is made from crystal-clear blown glass and decorated with bold black glass bands applied hot to the surface. These flowing bands wrap around the form like a “belt,” creating a dynamic graphic pattern that gives the piece its iconic identity.

The contrast between the transparent crystal glass and the deep black bands enhances the visual depth of the piece, allowing light to interact with the material and accentuate its sculptural form. The result is an object that is both minimalist and expressive, balancing modern design with traditional craftsmanship.
