Yemen by Venini

The Venini “Yemen” Vase (FO378700000O0ADU) is a sculptural masterpiece designed by legendary architect and designer Ettore Sottsass for Venini. Created in 1994, it is part of the celebrated Yemen collection, known for its bold geometric language and expressive use of color.

Handcrafted in Murano using traditional glassblowing techniques, the vase is composed of distinct sculptural volumes: a central sphere flanked by two contrasting conical elements. These forms interact in a dynamic balance, creating a powerful architectural presence that feels both playful and monumental.

The color palette is inspired by symbolic references to Yemen, evoking the tones of its flag through a sophisticated interplay of opaline glass layers. Each hue is achieved through the casing technique, where multiple layers of glass—such as lattimo and colored glass—are fused to create depth, softness, and luminous opacity.
